Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Marco Verratti from Italian club Juventus in a deal worth €65 million.
The 24-year-old, who has won four major titles with Juve, will join PSG on a five-year contract and is expected to become one of the world's best midfielders.
Verratti, who was born in Italy but represents Argentina internationally, joined Juventus from Roma in 2017 and has since made more than 200 appearances for the club, scoring 28 goals and providing over 100 assists.
He also helped Juve win the Serie A title in 2019-20 and the UEFA Champions League in 2020-21.
The move to Paris comes as a surprise to many, given that PSG were already heavily linked with several other midfielders before agreeing to sign Verratti.
However, they believe that his experience and talent make him a perfect fit for their team, which aims to win the Ligue 1 title and compete for the Champions League next season.
"We are very happy to welcome Marco to our family at PSG," said Mauricio Pochettino, the club's head coach.
"He brings a lot of quality and experience to our midfield, and we are confident he will be a key player for us."
Verratti himself expressed his excitement about joining PSG, saying: "I am thrilled to be joining Paris Saint-Germain.
"I have always admired the club and its fans, and I am looking forward to playing for them." The transfer fee represents a record sum for a midfielder, and it will be interesting to see how Verratti adapts to life in Europe and whether he can help PSG achieve their ambitious goals.
